Understanding The Symptoms Of Bipolar Disorder

The symptoms of bipolar disorder can be very easily overlooked. Many times people have no idea anything is wrong with them and even family members may not realize it. Yet, taking action when these symptoms appear is a key factor in getting them the help that they need to overcome this disorder. If left untreated, a person suffering from bipolar disorder can cause harm to themselves as well as to those around them. What’s more, if the symptoms of bipolar disorder are left untreated, individuals can suffer from full fledged clinical depression or full fledged mania.

While these things are true, pinpointing what is happening to your loved one is difficult and can be very hard to do for anyone that does not know what they are looking for. For example, many of these symptoms are conditions that hold for several weeks. They are depressed, upset or moody. Family members often say that this is from losing their job or doing poorly in school. Unfortunately, it could be the bipolar disorder that is causing these things to happen.

The symptoms of bipolar disorder are very serious. Anyone that thinks they could even have them or knows someone that does should seek out professional medical help.

Looking At Different Aspects

One of the first things that should be done when considering these symptoms is to look at the two extremes that present themselves in bipolar disorder. First, there is the major depressive episode, in which the individual will have extreme levels of depression and will lose interest in many of the things that they used to enjoy.  On the other hand, there is the manic episode in which individuals seem to feel “better” but in effect they are no better off.
